Along the beachfront you will find shops and also restaurants and cafes with great view to the sea and the sunset offering summer refreshments and culinary specialties. From the small port of Mastichari you can easily reach the neighboring island of Kalymnos.
In the multicultural capital city of Kos visit the remaining of the old Greek and Roman cities, the famous plane tree of Hippokrates, the impressive castle, the archeological museum and the "Asklepion" the first ancient hospital. For shopping options head for the central market with traditional Greek products in the city centre or just walk around the parks and streets of the city and the lively harbour promenade.
South of Mastichari visit Kefalos, the fishing village with the most popular sandy beaches. In the middle of the island, on the mountain "Dikeos" the picturesque villages of Zia and Palio Pyli offer a great panoramic view and in the village of Antimachia you can also see the traditional village house and the old windmill. Further west stretches the forest area of "Plaka" where peacocks live. Do not forget to visit Therma beach with the volcanic spring of hot water.
Kalymnos, the sponge divers island can be easily reached from the small port of Mastichari in approx. 45 minutes by boat. Learn everything about the traditional handling of the sponges and stroll through the main city Pothia with the typical colourful houses, the fish taverns and the promenade.
Nisiros is the volcanic island and can be reached after an hour's boat trip to the south of Kos. Visit the volcano with the view of the crater, the steaming earth and the sulphur yellow landscape and later on relax in the small picturesque main city of Mandraki.
Patmos, the island of the monks lies about 2 hours away from Kos city port and is famous for the monastery and castle of Saint Johannes and the holy cave of the Apocalypse. Around the monastery visit the cosmopolitan town of Chora and admire the breathtaking view of the Aegean from one of the cafes.
Rhodos, the famous island of the knights can be reached in about 3 hours by boat. An impressive old city with buildings from the Joanniter era, mosques, and the palace of the great magister are attracting tourists from all over the world. Walk through the small alleys where you will also find many souvenir shops, cafes, and a market.
Bodrum, is located in Turkey, opposite Kos city approx. 45 minutes with the boat. Spend an interesting day in the orient and enjoy the charm of this multicultural city. At the port take a look at the wooden boats and after a glass of Turkish tea wander around in the famous bazaar streets with many souvenir shops, boutiques and spice traders.
From Kos city start a 3-island cruise to enjoy the sea and the breeze on board of a typical Greek wooden boat. You will visit beautiful bays in the nearby islands, swim and snorkel in crystal-clear waters and have a barbecue and ouzo with the captain.
From Kos airport with a taxi to Mastichari approximately 10 minutes drive (17-20 EUR) or with the local bus approximately 15 minutes drive and a further 2-3 minute walk until the hotel.
From Kos city center (or harbour) with a taxi to Mastichari approximately 25 minutes drive (32-35 EUR) or with the local bus approximately 30 minutes drive. The bus from Kos city stops right outside the hotel.
